Coretta Scott King has died.

Wow ... it seems like an era is really ending. Rosa Parks is gone ... Coretta. All the warriors of the Movement are passing away. What are we doing to pick up the torch?

What are we doing to pick up the torch??? Unfortunately, not a d@#^ thing! We're too busy shaking our rumps in scantily clad get ups on music videos. There really doesn't seem to be any social consciousness left.

I must admit that I too am guilty (not of the video rump shakin'!). I'm too busy running around trying to right my own life to worry about the masses. "Doing something" seems to require a level of selflessness that I doubt even exists anymore. Of course every little bit helps, so taking the time to make sure my own family doesn't fall subject to the statistics may count as "something", but certainly not what I'd consider "picking up the torch".

So, where does that leave us? I'm afraid the torch may get extinguished along with the last of our warriors of yesterday's movement. God help us!
