Dear Western

My high school, Western, one of only two all-female public high schools in the nation, is in danger of being shut down by the city of Baltimore. This school is 160 years old and has turned out the best and brightest young women Baltimore has ever known (The best and brightest to arrive . . . we're the class of '95!). I cannot believe it and I won't stand by and watch it fold without doing all I can to help. Such a legendary school deserves to be helped. In honor of Western, let us all sing the school song (please raise any available piece of paper in your right hand and sway it from side to side as you sing, ladies): Dear Western, we greet thee with songs of thy praise And with hopes that unchanged may be That forever in safety, each ship thou wilt guide O'er the tempest of destiny's sea May thy colors for aye, wave proudly on high May thy name e'er be linked unto fame For we loved thee, now love thee, and ever shall love And ever shall honor thy name For . . . we . . . loved thee, now love thee, and ever shall love . . . And ever shall honor thy name (We must now throw in the customary "Whoo!!!!" scream for good measure.)

Toya, don't forget not only the "Whoo" but the hysterical waving of the paper in right hand!
